It is with great pride and excitement that we share some wonderful news for our district. Dr. Barbara King, Principal of Rock Creek Elementary, has been selected as a state semifinalist for the 2026-2027 Tennessee Principal of the Year award.

This prestigious honor from the Tennessee Department of Education recognizes school leaders who demonstrate exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to student success. Out of many talented administrators across the state, Dr. King was chosen for her unwavering dedication to educational excellence and her impactful leadership within our community.

As Director of Schools Dr. Holman noted, "Dr. King's commitment to public education, knowledge, and leadership are pivotal characteristics exhibited each day. The faculty, staff, students, parents, and the community benefit from her passionate and impactful leadership."

Dr. King expressed her gratitude for receiving this honor, crediting the success to the collective dedication of the educators, staff, and families she works with every day.
